Uncle E Keeps Aspen Ski Race Crowd on their Toes |
During the men’s World Cup races in Aspen on Friday and Saturday, there were no pregnant pauses when the skiers were temporarily delayed for television timeouts. Uncle E helped fill the void, as he’s done at numerous ski-related events in Aspen since 1998. Uncle E is regarded in the ski event industry as an announcer extraordinaire. It was easy to see why on Saturday. Dressed in a multi-colored “pinata outfit,” he prowled the grandstand looking for interesting subjects to interview in brief snippets. He talked to Ben Beattie, grandson of the late Bob Beattie, about Bob’s work to create the World Cup ski circuit. He induced the crowd to give a yell of, “Thank you Bob.”

'Banksy' Show Opens to the Public in Aspen on Saturday |
Banksy has left the building. The question is: Was he ever here at all? That query has been asked countless times over the years since the 1990s when his politically driven street art started appearing on streets in London and Bristol, tagged with the signature, “Banksy.” What if Banksy isn’t even a he? What if Banksy is a woman? What if Banksy is a conglomerate of street artists? What if Banksy is a secret society created at London’s University of The Arts from the class of 1988? What if Banksy is a corporation? The identity of Banksy is one of the great secrets of art in the 21st century. (For the purposes of this article, Banksy will be referred to as a he).
